Mini SAS to 4 SATA cable's Pin assignment problem:

There are two 2 kinds of Mini SAS to 4 SATA connections cables, The fist one is very populare used, it connect your mini SAS (Host) controller to 4 SATA (Target) Backplane, This is comply with Molex mini SAS cable pin out 2.
The next one is reversed cable, it connect Mini SAS (Target) backplane to 4 SATA controller (Host)

There is no any difference visually on the cable, the only difference locate at the pin assignment. So a lot of person got confused :)

1. Molex pin out 1:

Mini SAS is the controller & Mini SAS works as the HOST/Controller
4xSATA is the backplane & works as the target devices

2. Molex pin out 2:

Mini SAS is the Backplane & Mini SAS works as the Target
4xSATA is the Host & works as the Host controller devices
